Welcome to the Western Society of Pediatric Dentistry (WSPD)
The Western District Chapter of the AAPD

Welcome Message

WSPD is the Western Regional District Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD). Originally called District VI, the Western District  includes 11 western states and the Canadian Provinces of Alberta and British Columbia. Dr. Jade Miller, our current AAPD President and Dr. John Gibbons, our Western District Trustee, proudly represents the WSPD at the national level. Jade is from Nevada and John is a Washington State native. We are proud to have these great leaders representing us.

For the past 14 years WSPD has joined the CSPD (California Society of Pediatric Dentistry) for its annual meeting. This year our annual session was held at the Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa, CA.  We had a super turn out with a record number of attendees and a great speaker line-up. Our lecture series commenced with a Behavior Symposium featuring Dr. Gerald Wright giving us a historical perspective on Behavior Management. He was followed by an outstanding presentation from Dr. Stephen Wei who enticed the crowd with his acclaimed presence and lecture. Both are world-renowned pediatric dentists.

This year our 15th Annual Meeting will take place at the Green Valley Resort and Spa, Henderson, Nevada, March 15-19, 2017. Experience the other side of Vegas! The meeting is planned with a pre- lecture series sponsored by the Nevada Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. A PALS re-certification and an Infection Control course will be offered. Our program lecture topics include a special “Hot-Topics”- on the ACA Embedded plans and the Paradigm Shift of Reimbursement, and the Delivery of Pediatric Dentistry integrating Medical- Dental collaboration. This presentation is scheduled for Thursday afternoon. Friday features a lecture series on Infant Oral Health and Non Invasive Prevention- Saliva and its protective effect, probiotics and silver nitrate, Silver Diamine Fluoride(SDF). A presentation on Oral radiology and Advanced Diagnostic Tools will take place Friday afternoon. A lecture on “Parents and Children of Today”, is scheduled for Saturday morning, followed by a specially designed lecture on Special Needs and Adolescent Dentistry.  Individual Resident poster and Group Presentations are planned for Sunday morning. Completing the Sunday program is a CSPed Talk on “Associateships and Partnerships”.  The complete annual meeting program will be available online in mid-October.  Online registration will go live in November. Register early to get the special hotel rate offered by the Green Valley Resort and Spa. See you in March
“Viva Las Vegas!”
